What is Global Game Jam?

Global Game Jam is the world largest game creation event that is usually held in a physical location and takes place around the globe. The event begins on Friday late afternoon and ends on Sunday afternoon around 4pm.

My first year (2022) I said that I would just go to the lab to watch everyone make games and also try and learn from what I saw but it only took about 3 hours after the event started that I decided to enter the competition and make my own game.

After the event ended I was so glad I stayed because it was the most fun I had since I left Marching band. I was able to make so many new friends along the way that I began feeling like I belonged there.

If you are new to game design or game development or just want to make a game for the hell of it I would totally recommend you do the Global Game Jam Event. Its best if you in a group but if you want to do something a little bit smaller you can check out the game jams held by itch.io.
